Noticed on the national news last night that the heat is searing way beyond Texas right now. It's making it's wave in many places in the country that aren't primed for it - places where people don't all have central air and all the conveniences of being cool.
We have programs in Texas to help each other with the summer heat - things like being able to pay a little extra on your utility bill to help anonymously help keep someone in your area cool. Lots of local organizations pass out window units to the elderly and others that don't have central air.
Being pretty well versed in how to help immediate neighbors, I find myself kind of at a loss on how I might be able to help distance ones. Is there some sort of regional or national agencies that jump in and help when this kind of stuff happens to less prepared areas?
Thanks!
